HPE SimpliVity for VMware - upgrade.
Hello,
I would like to upgrade my HPE SimpliVity cluster. Below is the installed version:
- SVTSP-2021_0110.02 (SimpliVity Service Pack); (Mar 1 2012)
- HPE SimpliVity Deploy package 4.1.0 for VMware vSphere (Q8A57-11110) (4.1.0 Mar 02 2021);
- VMware vCenter Server Appliance 7.0.0d (build 16749653);
- VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0.1d (build 17551050).
I want to update to version 5.3.1.2 (vCenter Server Appliance 8.0U3g – 24853646 ; ESXi 8.0 U3g - 24859861 ; SVTSPGen10-2026_0116.03).
In the Upgrade Planner, I can simulate the upgrade starting from version 4.1.0U1.
Can I upgrade to version 5.3.1.2 from version 4.1.0 ? Or do I need to upgrade to an intermediate version (4.2.0 for example), and then upgrade to version 5.3.1.2?
Thanks.

Re: HPE SimpliVity for VMware - upgrade.
Hi Cleber,
Good day.
Thanks for writing to HPE and we would be glad to assist you with your query.
The answer to your query would be that, would be you upgrade to a intermediate version say 4.2 as you mentioned and then proceed with upgrading to 5.3.1.2 version.
Its due to a fact that these components depends on each other and we are not only looking at the SimpliVity version of 4.1.0 but same time whether the current ESXi would support the latest 5.3.1.2 version too if you choose to directly upgrade it.
I would also recommend you to reach out to support to get some more information related to it, before you plan to start looking at your upgrades.
Here is a documentation guide that you can refer too:

Re: HPE SimpliVity for VMware - upgrade.
Hi @NeetSat,
I've been checking the interoperability guide for version 5.3.1 and it seems to be possible to upgrade directly to version 5.3.1. Below the figure:
Version 5.3.1 supports vCenter Server 7.0.0d and VMware ESXi 7.0.1d.
There is a note regarding the SVTSP version.
Version 5.3.1 does not support version SVTSP_2021.1201 (currently installed).
It is necessary to upgrade to version SVTSP_2023.0502, then to version SVTSP_2023_1130.
This way it is possible to update vCenter to version 8.0 U3, SVA (OmniStack) to 5.3.1, VMware ESXi to version 8.0 U3 and SVTSP to version SVTSPGen10-2026_0116.03.
Is my understanding correct?
Thanks.
Cleber

Re: HPE SimpliVity for VMware - upgrade.
Hello @Cleber Zorzi,
Yes, your understanding is essentially correct, but with a few important cautions.:
Summary of the path you described
The OmniStack/SVA software version 5.3.1 supports vCenter 7.0.0d and ESXi 7.0.1d per the guide.
Your current SVTSP version (SVTSP_2021.1201) is not supported for a direct jump to 5.3.1.
You must first move SVTSP forward through the required intermediate SVTSP releases (for example SVTSP_2023.0502 and then SVTSP_2023_1130) so the environment meets the preconditions.
After the intermediate SVTSP updates, you can proceed to update vCenter to 8.0 U3, ESXi to 8.0 U3, and SVA (OmniStack) to 5.3.1 — and end with the supported SVTSPGen10-2026_0116.03.
Double check:
Confirm the exact sequence and versions in the official interoperability matrix/release notes for each component — small differences in required intermediate versions can matter.
Read each release’s upgrade notes for prerequisites, required firmware/controller versions, and known issues.
Ensure host/firmware/driver compatibility and that any SPP or vendor depots you use are appropriate for your hardware.
Back up vCenter, SVA appliances, and any critical data and take snapshots where supported.
Test the upgrade path in a lab or staged environment if possible.
Plan maintenance windows and rollback contingencies.
