iLo 5 1.37 approved for Simplivity?

Hello!

We have a 2+1 Simplivity solution running on 3 HPE SimpliVity 380 Gen10 servers, and recently upgraded to Omnistack 3.7.7. We are using firmware package SVTSP-2018_1127.01.iso, which includes iLo 5 version 1.35.

This, however, produces a couple of warnings in vCenter for the hosts in question. We are seeing warnings like [Device] I/O Module 1 LOM_Link_P1. This seems to be a known issue, and the solution presented by HPE is to upgrade to iLo 5 version 1.37, as seen here: https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-a00053955en_us

My question is if iLo 5 version 1.37 has been approved for use with Simplivity? Is it safe to upgrade? I checked the latest interoperability guide, but it does not say anything about version 1.37. We would of course like to eliminate these warnings as they could potentially obscure real warnings.

Hello, it have worked for me on 3 of 4 node cluster in 3.7.7. Last node still display false warning about alom and lom despite the ILO 1.37 firmware. Regards, Jean-Philippe

What version of ESXi are you using?

in case ESXi 6.5 U2 Sept 2018 there is а requirement to install VMware ESXi 6.5 Patch Release ESXi650-201811002

J-Philippe, and this did not have any adverse effect on your Simplivity cluster? iLo 5 version 1.37 is not verified as compatible with Omnistack 3.7.7, right?

Hello Gustav, 

iLO version 1.37 hasn't been qualified for Simplivity yet. The approved version for software 3.7.7 is still 1.35.

There is some documentation out in the web recommending a downgrade to version 1.20, but I wouldn't recommend doing that to avoid any other type of issues with compatibility if you are already at 1.35. 

I've seen a couple systems been updated to 1.37 and nothing is affected. The errors are suppressed in that version but like I said, we haven't officially qualified this version.
