Omnistack Upgrade from 4.1.3 to 5.3.1

Hello, I have a 10-node Gen10 Simplivity running on 4.1.3 and ESXI 7.0U3, and I'm tasked with updating the cluster to Omnistack 5.3.1 and ESXI 8.

Has anyone successfully upgraded from 4.1.3 to 5.3.1 without issues? Or should I first go to an intermediary version like 5.1.0U1 and then to 5.3.1?

Re: Omnistack Upgrade from 4.1.3 to 5.3.1

Hello @AlexandreC
According to HPE SimpliVity documentation, you cannot upgrade directly from 4.1.3 to 5.3.1.
You must upgrade to OmniStack 5.1.0 U1 as an intermediary step before going to 5.3.1.

OmniStack 4.1.3 supports up to ESXi 7.0 U3 (your current version). OmniStack 5.3.1 supports ESXi 8.0 U1/U2. You may check the exact build in the Interoperability Guide.

Order of upgrade: Upgrade OmniStack first (from 4.1.3 to 5.1.0 U1 and then 5.3.1)
Then upgrade ESXi to a supported 8.x version (after the cluster is at 5.3.1).

Refer the HPE SimpliVity Interoperability Guide and the Upgrade Guide for the supported upgrade paths.

Please consider consulting HPE support and the latest documentation before starting. You may consider opening a support case and reach out to HPE SimpliVity support to help plan and validate your upgrade steps.
