Problem upgrading Omnistack 4.0.1 -> 4.1 and esxi6.7 -> 7 using upgrade manager.

Hello.

When using the upgrade manager to upgrade Omnistack 4.0.1 -> 4.1 and esxi6.7 -> 7, omnistack shows as upgradable, but the vmware esxi entry shows as done.

Initial installation is Firmware SVTSP-2021_1201.02, Omnistack 4.0.1, vCenter 6.7, EXSi 6.7
If you run the upgrade manager after installing Arbiter 4.1, you will not see the esxi upgrade item as shown below.
What should I do?

The contents of the Upgrade Manager folder contain the esxi offline bundle files as shown below, but I don't see any entries.

Hi Tonylee

If you have already installed Arbiter 4.1 and are not seeing the ESXi upgrade item in the upgrade manager, there are a few steps you can try:

1. Check compatibility: Ensure that the version of the vCenter Server and ESXi hosts you are upgrading to is compatible with your version of Omnistack. You can check this by referring to the HPE SimpliVity 4.1 Release Notes and the VMware Compatibility Guide.

2. Verify Arbiter is correctly installed: Check that Arbiter 4.1 is correctly installed and running on your HPE SimpliVity cluster. You can verify this by checking the status of the Arbiter in the HPE SimpliVity plugin or by running the "HPE SimpliVity host arbiter-status" command on each host.

3. Restart the upgrade manager service: Try restarting the upgrade manager service on the vCenter Server by logging into the vCenter Server Appliance and running the command "service hpe-upgrade-manager restart".

4. Re-register HPE SimpliVity: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, try re-registering the HPE SimpliVity plugin with vCenter Server. You can do this by following the steps in the HPE SimpliVity documentation.

If you continue to experience issues with the upgrade manager, it may be helpful to contact HPE SimpliVity Tech support for further assistance.

Hope this helps.!!

Mahesh

What are your current versions of ESXi and firmware? Is it possible you are at a higher level than what the bundle comes with? The arbiter has really nothing to do with this, the Upgrade Manager is a separated piece of software. You actually need to upgrade arbiter before upgrading software, but it's not what is causing the ESXi versions to show complete.
