SimpliVity and stretched clusters
Hi!
We currently have a PR and DR set up with Simplivity. Two simplivity hosts at each site. The sites are in linked mode in vCenter. We are going to be expanding by adding two additional nodes at each site. Kick off call for that is next month. We've been thinking about Stretched cluster and want to know if anyone has this with Simplivty and have had any draw backs or gotchas? We like the idea of active active and feel like we can get more 'use' of the Simplivity nodes as right now the nodes at DR are just 'sitting there.'

Re: SimpliVity and stretched clusters
Hello,
the Stretched cluster works fine with SimpliVity. Keep in mind that :
- the arbiter should be on a third site
- as you said both sites will be Active / Active on the same LAN (Level 2 Network)
- create your availability zone to ensure that Primary data and Secondary data will not be host within the same location
- Latency should not exceed 5ms
- If using Veeam Virtual Proxy, distribute them on each location
Best Regards

Re: SimpliVity and stretched clusters
Thanks!
Question about nodes and availability zones:
We're going to have 4 simplivity nodes at 1 site and 4 simplivity nodes are another site. Currently its two at each, we're adding 2 new at each.
Would the availability zones be set up like this:
Zone 1: 4 simplivity nodes at site 1
Zone 2 4 simplivity nodes at site 2
- or -
Zone 1: 1 simplivity node at site 1
zone 2: 1 simplivity node at site 2
zone 3: 1 simplivity node at site 1
zone 4: 1 simplivity node at site 2
Zone 5: 1 simplivity node at site 1
zone 6: 1 simplivity node at site 2
zone 7: 1 simplivity node at site 1
zone 8: 1 simplivity node at site 2
Thanks!

This should be :

Re: SimpliVity and stretched clusters
Hello, as a stretched cluster licence should be the same on both DC1 and DC2 nodes. For the version (Good luck with Broadcom...) standard will do the job..
The best is when you have DRS combine with the IWO feature if more than 2 nodes (ESXi)
