Simplivity Cloud Backup to Amazon S3 Glacier

Does anybody know if SimpliVity cloud backups support Amazon S3 Glacier?

Re: Simplivity Cloud Backup to Amazon S3 Glacier

Hi MornevR,

HPE SimpliVity does support cloud backups to Amazon S3 bucket. However, the transition from the S3 standard tier to Glacier can be performed through S3 lifecycle policies from the AWS console.

You need to configure HPE Cloud Bank Storage to point it to the S3 bucket which will act as a backup target and then backups can be pushed to them using backup policies.

HPE Cloud Bank Storage cannot be backed up directly and is available as an HPE StoreOnce Catalyst Copy target. Start by creating an Object Store in the cloud and connecting it to the HPE Cloud Bank Store. On the HPE SimpliVity side, you can register a HPE Cloud Bank Store with HPE SimpliVity Cluster only after an external Catalyst Store (such as HPE StoreOnce) is registered.

For more details on how to configure this you can refer the below documents about HPE Cloud Bank Storage:

For more information on how to configure S3 lifecycle policies you can refer the below AWS documentation:

https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonS3/latest/userguide/how-to-set-lifecycle-configuration-intro.html

I hope this information is helpful.

Regards,
Sanika.
