The Gen9 is not supported with 4.1.1U1.

Hello.

I have a Question regarding update of the ESXi. we are currently running version VMware ESXi, 7.0.1, 16850804..

I have downloaded the new Software for Omnistack 4.1.1.U1 both Q8A57-11130_HPE_SIMPLIVITY_UPGRADE_PACKAGE_4.1.1.ZIP

and 

Q8A57-11131_HPE_SIMPLIVITY_DEPLOY_PACKAGE_4.1.1_VMWARE_VSPHERE.ZIP

But when I run the Upgrade manager I do not get the upgrade choise for the ESXi only Omnistack, and I have placed all of the files in the same folder. I have upgraded the firmware on the hosts. 

Is the ESXi I am running the latest supported version or am I doing some thing wrong? So the upgrade manager do not find the new esxi version.

If upgrading the VMware ESXi software, download the zipped ESXi offline upgrade bundle and the HPE SimpliVity InterOp Catalog bundle from the My HPE Software Center (http://www.hpe.com/software/hpesoftwarecenter) and save them in the same directory. You must extract the contents of the HPE SimpliVity InterOp Catalog bundle in the same directory

I have read the upgrade guide and followed it. I have downloaded the files from HPE Software Center as you suggested.

This is the files I have downloaded: Q8A57-11130_HPE_SimpliVity_Upgrade_Package_4.1.1.zip

Q8A57-11131_HPE_SimpliVity_Deploy_Package_4.1.1_VMware_vSphere.zip and 

Q8A57-11138_HPE_SimpliVity_Interop_Catalog_1.1.0

I extract the files in Q8A57-11130_HPE_SimpliVity_Upgrade_Package_4.1.1.zip and 

Q8A57-11138_HPE_SimpliVity_Interop_Catalog_1.1.0

Then I place the files from Q8A57-11131_HPE_SimpliVity_Deploy_Package_4.1.1_VMware_vSphere.zip and Q8A57-11138_HPE_SimpliVity_Interop_Catalog_1.1.0 in the same folder as the extracted files from Q8A57-11130_HPE_SimpliVity_Upgrade_Package_4.1.1.zip.

Then I run the simplivity upgrade manager. The Manager finds the update for the Omnistack and I am able to update this. But it do not find any esxi updates. It says Completed under update status. My current ESXi version is VMware ESXi, 7.0.1, 16850804

If I understand there are newer versions of the ESXi that are supported for Simplivity 4.1.1.U1.

Now do you see anything wrong what I am doing? I have tried just to run the update manager without coping any files from esxi bundle and I get the same results. I feels like the Update Manager do not recognize the esxi bundle.

Hi Per_Johansson,

Sorry, I am not understanding what you are trying to do.  I suggest you open a support call and I know they will be able to help you.    We did publish a new version of the Interop Catalog file today (version 1.1.0) to include some additional ESXi offline bundles.  It sounds like you have now updated to 4.1.1U1.   If you download the new Interop Catalog file (version 1.1.0) you can edit it and see what versions the upgrade manager will see that you can update to (ESXi Offline bundles)

Today I resolved my issue with upgrading our ESXi.

It helped that I could open the Interop Catalog file and see what versions the upgrade manager will see.

You can always find the latest OMNIstack software and firmware in the following document: 

www.hpe.com/storage/SimpliVitySoftwareReleases  

Currently, the latest version is 4.1.2.  In the top Current Releases table, you can hyperlink to the download location on the HPE Support Center.

You need an active warranty or a support contract (support agreement) to download the software.
