Upgrade HPE SimpliVity

Hello,

I have an HPE SimpliVity stretched cluster with 8 nodes (4 at each site) running the following versions:
OmniStack 4.1.0
SVTSP-2021_0110.02
vCenter Server Appliance 7.0.0d (build 16749653)
VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0.1d (build 17551050)

Is it possible to upgrade this environment directly to HPE SimpliVity version 6.3.0U1?

Or is an intermediate upgrade required?

I am referring to the attached chart.

Thanks.

Query: Upgrade HPE SimpliVity

System recommended content:

1. HPE SimpliVity 5.3.1 for vSphere Documentation | Download the HPE SimpliVity upgrade software

2. HPE SimpliVity 5.3.1 for vSphere Documentation | SimpliVity upgrade requires a host reboot to apply ESXi settings

Re: Upgrade HPE SimpliVity

Hello @Cleber Zorzi

Based on the upgrade matrix, HPE SimpliVity 4.1.0 to 6.3.0U1 is marked as C (Compatible but not explicitly verified). This indicates that an intermediate SimpliVity upgrade may not be required.

However, the upgrade path is subject to the ESXi and firmware compatibility requirements for the target version, so these should be verified before proceeding with the upgrade.

Sanika.

Re: Upgrade HPE SimpliVity

Hello,

I performed the HPE SimpliVity environment update. Here are the update steps:

Pre-update version:

SVTSP: SVTSP-2021_0110.02 (SimpliVity Service Pack); (Mar 1 2012)

Package: HPE SimpliVity Deploy package 4.1.0 for VMware vSphere (Q8A57-11110) (4.1.0 Mar 02 2021);

vCenter: VMware vCenter Server Appliance 7.0.0d (build 16749653)

ESXi: VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0.1d (build 17551050).

The update followed these steps:

Step 1

SimpliVity Service Pack version SVTSP-2023_0502.02

SimpliVity Service Pack version SVTSP-2023_1130.02

HPE SimpliVity Upgrade Package (Q8A57-11157_HPE_SimpliVity_Upgrade_Package_4.2.0)

Step 2

VMware vCenter Server 8.0U3d (VMware-VCSA-all-8.0.3-24322831); SimpliVity Service Pack version SVTSPGen10-2025_0131.03

VMware ESXi 8.0U3d (Q8A57-11214_hpe-esxi8.0u3d-24585383-803.0.0.11.9.0.7-offline-bundle)

HPE SimpliVity Upgrade Package (Q8A57-11206_HPE_SimpliVity_Upgrade_Package_5.2.0)

Step 3

SimpliVity Service Pack version SVTSPGen10-2026_0605.01

HPE SimpliVity Upgrade Package (Q8A57-11259_HPE_SimpliVity_Upgrade_Package_6.3.0)

The Interoperability Guides were also used in the following versions:

HPE SimpliVity Interoperability Guide (Q8A57-11161_HPE_SimpliVity_Interop_Catalog_1.4.0)

HPE SimpliVity Interoperability Guide (Q8A57-11251_HPE_SimpliVity_Interop_Catalog_2.6.0)

The step was performed on all hosts before proceeding to the next step.

It worked perfectly.
