VCenter Datastore provisioning - dedupe question..

Hi all,

I've inherited a couple of Gen10 Simplivity Clusters and am just reviewing current configuration an best practise.

I can see dedicated datastores created for Linux and Windows VM's. Is there a rationale for this beyond backup policy application? Only thing I could think of was dedupe performance.

Any insights appreciated.

Simon

Re: VCenter Datastore provisioning - dedupe question..

Hi Simon

Hope you are doing well..!

There is no other rationale for this than that VMware admins use to divide VM’s into different datastores for their own overview. When it comes to dedupe and performance, it does not matter if you have one or several datastores, the dedupe and performance will be the same regardless.

Hope this helps.!!

Regards
Mahesh.
