Brocade 6500B ISL configuration
Hi
I have two brocade 6500N switches (Switch A and switch B) used as redandancy for our storage and compute environnement
we have to rellocate storage and servers to diffrent location closed to the primary site arround 2KM
Am planinning to purshase new switch (switch C ) and install it on the new location in the same time enable ISL with switch B
by doing this can i move servers to new location and use the switch C as an extended SAN fabric ?
if yes is there limitation on cabling lenght and license ?
thanks for your help and support

Re: Brocade 6500B ISL configuration
Cable length of 2km is not a concern. The switches will support anyway.
But, ISL requires license. Please check if you already have the license enabled for ISL (it will be inclusive generally). If not, you may have to gather the license.

Re: Brocade 6500B ISL configuration
Hello @S_AMB
Hope you are doing well.
Metro connectivity
Brocade 6520 and 6510 Switches support integrated SAN extension over native Fibre Channel (metro connections up to 100 km) for replication and backup over distance. Native Fibre Channel connections now include in-flight compression and encryption as well as optional support for 10 Gbps Fibre Channel over Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) and dark fiber.
To take advantage of the 10 Gbps Fibre Channel support, organizations need a software license and 10 Gbps optics.
Additional Information
Please refer to the following link for more information: https://docs.broadcom.com/doc/12379746
@S_AMB I hope this helps!

Re: Brocade 6500B ISL configuration
Thanks there is nothing pointing to ISL license on my switches I can see the only license available on the switch is
Full Ports on Demand license - additional 48 port upgrade license
but from the below brocade document trial license can be requested for ISL trunking is it the same license am not planing to use trunking just ISL
