HPE SN2100M - This layer 1 issue is driving us nuts

Greetings:

We are upgrading from a pair of SN2010M (eighteen 10/25Gb ports + four 100Gb ports) to a pair of SN2100M (sixteen 100Gb ports) for our TOR switches. These switches are all running the Onyx operating system.

We have deployed several sets of SN2010M switches for us and our clients over the past four years. We decided to upgrade to SN2100M to get more port density by using 100Gb optics with 4-port breakout cables.

We configured a SN2100M switch and swapped it in for one of our SN2010M switches in our server cabinet.

This issue we are having is that whenever we connect a host one of the four breakout pairs, the port flaps every 30 seconds. We have configured the new switch port identically to our existing switches and connected to existing hosts that have worked for years with the SN2010M..

When we connect the breakout pair to another switch, we have no issues. We only experience the issue when we connect a host (server or workstation) with SFP+.

We've also tried a 100Gb to 25Gb converter with both an optical transceiver as well as DAC cable and get the same results; the port stays up when connected to another switch (HPE or other brand) and the port flaps when that same connection terminates into a host (server or workstation).

During the time the port is up, we have connectivity.

Any ideas what this might be or what to try next?

Thanks in advance.
