HPE SN6610C Buffer Credits
I have 2 SN6610C with 8 active ports , and Alletra MP in First DC. I am going to build Second DC with same hardware and configure VMSC with Active peer persistent.
Disatance between DCs is 25 Km
Do I need to buy additional license for SN6610C to increase BB Credits? Or it will be enough for this scenarios?

Re: HPE SN6610C Buffer Credits
Hello @nasara10 ,
Run the command "show interface fc slot/port"
Then calculate the average frame size from the output
Calculate the minimum bb credits using the formula: BB_credits = (Minimum number of BB_credits required per km for interface speed x One-way distance (km)) / ((Average receive frame size (bytes) / 2150 bytes))
If the default bb credits is less than the required bb credit, then you need to extend bb credit.
Please note:
The ENTERPRISE_PKG license is required to use extended buffer-to-buffer credits on 16 Gbps, 32 Gbps, and 64 Gbps switching modules.
You cannot configure regular buffer-to-buffer credits after configuring the extended buffer-to-buffer credits.
Thanks,
Sahana S

Re: Query: HPE SN6610C Buffer Credits
Hi - please note that the Enterprise Package license is a Traditional license and as of NX-OS 9.2.2, you will need to move to Smart licenses. The Traditional licenses (including DCNM, Enterprise Package and SAN Insights licenses) will be obsolete starting in August 2025.
There are 2 types of Smart Licenses offered:
- Advantage which includes the license features of DCNM/NDFC and Enterprise Package
- Premier which includes the license features of DCNM/NDFC, Enterprise Package and SAN Insights
These Smart licenses are offered in 1, 3 and 5-year terms.
