Zoning configuration;
Hi team,
I have a pair of SAN switches with effective zoning in production in a datacenter (2 x SN 3000B) and another pair of Brocade switches (2 x SN3600B) with effective zoning in production in another datacenter.
NOTE: The zonings are completely different, as they have different hardware in the DCs!
Now the client has decided to interconnect the DCs via dark fiber to create an ISL... I have already seen that the Domain IDs are all different (1,2,3 and 4)...
My question is... when I close the ISL connections, will I have zoning problems? Will any zoning configuration overwrite the other? Will I lose any zoning configuration in any of the DCs?
Regards,
Carlos Oliveira.

Re: Zoning configuration;
Hi
when you connect the ISL the worst will be you get an error because of the existing Zoning and the configurations will not merge (you will see the error in CLI issuing switchshow).
best way if possible is to delete the zonning from one fabric and then merge. but this means down time.
though you can prepare the added zonning before hand.

Re: Zoning configuration;
If the Domain ID is different, the Zoning will/should merge.

Re: Zoning configuration;
Hi Carlos_Oliveira,
If you are adding a switch that is already configured for zoning, clear the zone configuration on that switch before connecting it to the zoned fabric.
If you do not clear the zone configuration, you will get the error "zone conflict".
Please refer to the below link for more information on merging two fabrics.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Satish
