Composer login
Hello,
I have a synergy frame with 2 composer modules and 2 frame link modules.
For now I am just trying to figure out how it works.
When I go to the console for the composer I get a login screen. I am unable to login. How do I reset this password? I have tried maintenance but it doesn't work because it won't let me reset the password. It needs some kind of authorization from HP but I don't have any service contract.
I am just a guy trying stuff for fun, but I am locked behind this. I'd like to see what's behind the login for the composer.
I was able to download the firmware 6.60.07 which is the latest supported. It had 6.60.02 before.
I used the install for composer (not composer2), made the USB according to documentation and it did do some stuff, and the composers rebooted a few times.
With re-image I would expect it to reset to factory, but I still can't login to the composer.
What do I do?

Re: Composer login
There is a first time setup poster included with new frames; but you sound like it's a pretty old setup.
You were correct to reimage with the "install" kit; assuming it worked, that does indeed reset everything including the default Administrator password. (Resetting an exsting Administrator account does require a call to HPE for authorization.)
Please do review the documentation, you would find this: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=sd00005251en_us
Local authentication
By default, HPE OneView is configured with a single local user account named Administrator. An Administrator is a person who is assigned to do the first-time setup in HPE OneView and has full rights. The default password for this local administrator account is admin. Reset the Administrator password at first login. The administrator of the appliance is automatically assigned with full access (Infrastructure administrator) privileges, after the first login.

Re: Composer login
Thank you for the reply.
This is not a new system but rather a discontinued one that I got.
Maybe I want to do something that isn't needed, I just assumed you should be able to login to the linux system that the composer is running, however this seems impossible.
I am using composer "1" not 2, meaning latest firmware I can have is 6.60.07. I used the install and did a re-image. I got the frame back up but I still cannot login to the linux running on the composer. Shouldn't I be able to do that?
Is the composer equal to the old Onboard Administrator on the C7000 chassis?
If I go to action -> appliance -> synergy composer 1 I get a linux login screen. I can type maintenance and get some type of interface, but I would like to log in. If I want to reset the password I need to contact HP.
I am just a guy trying to figure out how stuff works, meaning there is no way I can afford to get a service contract on this system - I wouldn't even know how.
I'd just like to get the password reset. Is there really no way of doing that, even with re-image?

Re: Composer login
You absolutely will never be able to reach the locked down OS that the Composer is running. Only HPE service can do that.
There is no feature to reset an existing primary Administrator password without authorization from HPE. The only choice is to reimage and start with a fresh install and a default Administrator password that I pointed you to previously.
You may want to learn about what you have; there are a lot of documentation and help pages. You could start here:
http://www.hpe.com/info/synergy-docs
There are also training courses offered. Once you install/login you will find the Composer has a wizard checklist to help walk you through setup-- but this is a complex tightly integrated solution and experimenting will often leave you in a place where you need to delete or start over.
In the most simples sense, the user interface of the OA lives in the Composer-- but the low-level device communication part of the OA is implemented in the Frame Link Modules (that have no UI).

Re: Composer login
Thank you for the answer, it made me understand a bit more.
I am used to the old C7000 with the OA, where it can be reset fairly easily. I do not mind doing re-image a few times to learn how it all works together.
One more question though.
When I do a re-image, and I type in maintenance in the composer, no matter what it still wants a username and password. The username and password you are referring to seems to be if I run a full factory reset by using action -> diagnostic -> factory reset. I can then proceed to enter IP addresses and when accessing the frame on this IP address I can use the username and password you have given to me.
It promts me to change the password, so I change it to:
username Administrator
password Password
Just to make things easy.
Now when I go to composer and type in maintenance and I use either:
Administrator / admin
Administrator / Password
None of these work. Shouldn't I be allowed to enter the maintenance mode of the composer somehow?
I have also tried to do a factory reset, without doing anything else, then tried to enter the composers maintenance, still without luck.
I also tried to re-image once again, but I am still not able to get into maintenance menu on the composer, login is still incorrect.
