Gen12 Compute module into a synergy 12000 Frame
I'm looking for any guidance/documentation for a 480 Gen12 support in a synergy 12000 frame. Any upgrades that need to be done? Composer? FLM? Can you mix Gen11 and Gen12 modules?
Thanks!

Re: Gen12 Compute module into a synergy 12000 Frame
Mixing Synergy Gen11 and Gen12 in the same frames, if you already are properly configured for Gen11, it may not be a lot of change:
For Gen11
- You must have at least HPE OneView 8.7 on the HPE Synergy Composer2
- You must be using an SSP that is still within the 18-month current support lifecycle (that carries the required FLM version too)
For Gen12
- Requires HPE OneView 10.0 that was released end-May
- Requires SSP 2025.05.01 that was also released end-May
- Note that Gen12 no longer offers a CNA and therefore FC storage requires a dedicated FC fabric
- If the frame already has Gen11, then it will already have the required VC 100Gb modules and may have the 32Gb FC modules
- Always run the frame configuration through the Power Advisor!
- 3000/3400W PSUs can be hot swapped with 2650s if they only need a small bump in power.
- 2650/3000/3400 which are all 1x PSU per slot however cannot be Hot Swapped to the Dual PS Adapter and the 2x2200W design.
- The 1x family and the 2x family do not work together, so you need to take a frame outage if you want to cross that line.
- SY480 Gen12 will requires iLO7 1.13.01 and FLM 5.02.00 that will be in the new SSP.
- There is nothing new in the fans / power space for Gen12 over Gen11.
- Be cautious when ordering Gen12 with all the new local storage options, the factory may configure your Mezz 2 / fabric 2 for the internal drive storage.
- Any storage fabric already in the frame may need to move
- First configure a Gen12 by choosing the drive cage required and then make a plan if this impacts the frame and existing computes
