How to access Smart Array controller on Synergy 480 Gen10 for first time setup
Hi Team
We in a process of deploying HP Synergy 480 Gen10 for our SQL Ent environment through HPE Synergy Frame. I`m wondering if anyone in this forum has setup and configured one of these servers? If yes, please share how it`s setup. The frame has 20 x SAS SSD drive (3.2 TB each).
My goal is to have this host/server utilizing the local storage from the Synergy frame and it`s NVRAM for cahing for high performance and better reads/wright speeds.
My challenges:
1 - Is it wise to use JBOD for SQL?
2 - Any best practice I need to be aware of when configuring JBOD?
3 - Is it possible to use this JBOD as SAN?
4 - Is it wise to have these servers not clustered (Failover)? Apparently my SQL Admin confirmed that they must not be clustered since SQL Always On will be taking care of failover capabilities.
My Infrastructure consist of 3 frames and each frame has HP Synergy 480 Gen10 server. These servers will be installed Windows Server 2016 Datacentre Core edition.
