Re: HPE Synergy 12000 Frame - Change Serial
Please open a support case, I believe there is an HPE-internal midplane replace command internal to the FLM (although I could be wrong). There should never ever be two midplanes manufactured with the same serial number. Either they have an invalid serial number (such as 0000000110 or similar) or something entirely different has occured during the replacement process to confuse the FLM and Composer. [edit to fix typo]

Re: HPE Synergy 12000 Frame - Change Serial
There is a good possibility that the replaced midplane part number entered is different from the one existing. You can verify Part number from Hardware section of the specific enclosure from OneView. Anyway correcting this needs Support to be involved.

Re: HPE Synergy 12000 Frame - Change Serial
Thank you for your reply. Normally, the 2 frames have different serial numbers (front label). But during our test (swicth backplane for troubleshooting), the test midplane have take the serial of the other one! After reinstall the test midplane on his original frame, it keep the serial ! Realy strange....

Re: HPE Synergy 12000 Frame - Change Serial
The serials are the same under Oneview Hardware Enclosure section! And it is a big problem when we want to connect the frame together.

Re: HPE Synergy 12000 Frame - Change Serial
Ok, hang on. You're experimenting & testing without understanding what the solution is trying to do: when you replace something like a Composer or system board, or midplane-- the solution will automatically set the SN to what it is supposed to be. If it doesn't, then manual service action is required.
You cannot "replace" a midplane and then pretend you did not replace it. The only supported scenario is replacing a failed component and the expectation is everything "just works". You cannot play games with shuffling parts without causing seriously unrecoverable configurations.

Re: HPE Synergy 12000 Frame - Change Serial
Understood ! We just went back to the original configuration on the first chassis because the midplane wasn't the problem.
The problem was that the repack midplane didn't get its original serial number back when it was put back in its frame. I understand that there is no other solution than to go through the “console maintenance” with an OTP password. Unfortunately, this frame no longer has an active HPE contract ;(
Thanks for your help
