Procedure Moving Compute Modules from a different OneView instance
I'm planning a move of a number of 480 Gen 10 compute modules from a OneView instance to another. This is my plan for the move:
- Verify that both the Compute Modules firmware is at the same level on both OneView.
- Power off Compute Modules
- Remove any applied server profile from the Compute Modules
- Remove modules and move
- Install compute modules in destination frame
- After OneView sees all the "new" compute modules, apply server profiles as needed
- Install OS and Apps
- Clean up any un-needed server profiles from the original OneView
Questions:
- Will OneView find and aquire the "new" compute modules for are other steps needed.?
- Other than server profiles, what other clean up may be needed fro the original OneView instance?
Thank you for reading.

Re: Procedure Moving Compute Modules from a different OneView instance
Hi Dave,
The steps which you have listed are absolutely right.
We need to just ensure that the profiles are unassigned first and then the modules are removed.
The new OneView instance should detect the nodes as a newly installed blades and you should be able to apply new profiles using teamplates or without them.
Additional cleanup is not required as the profile is the one which manages the show and once you remove the profile it is back to blank node waiting for a new profile to be applied.
Hope this information was helpful
