SY 480 Gen10 hba showing status unkown
I have a SY 480 Gen10 with a 3530C 16G HBA installed. Server is running ESXi but the hba is not showing up under the host storage adapters. In the ILO Device Inventory, the hba is showing a status of Unknown. I have reseated the hba, reseated the blade, upgraded to the latest firmware and replaced the hba with a new one. Other than maybe a bad mez slot, I'm out of ideas.

Re: SY 480 Gen10 hba showing status unkown
Refer OS Support for VMware ESXi 7.0 Update 3 (HPE Synergy November 2024)
Notes clearly states that:
This HPE Synergy Custom ESXi Image (703.0.0.11.8.5.4) and associated Synergy Custom AddOn has an updated lpfc driver that no longer supports the HPE Synergy 3530C 16G FC HBA. Support for this adapter is provided with the 7.0 U3 inbox lpfc driver, version 14.0.169.26. The HPE Synergy Only Custom Addon for ESXi 7.0 U3 for 3530C 16G FC HBA Nov 2024 is available to support VMware LifeCycle Manager (vLCM) with this VMware Base OS Image.
In a setup that contains 3530C HBAs, HPE recommends that you do not upgrade to the 703.0.0.11.8.5.4 custom image and associated version of the lpfc driver, as this will result in the loss of FC LUN access. In a boot-from-SAN configuration, the system will stop booting the OS.
