Synergy SAS connection across frames
Can SAS connection be made across frames in Synergy? What components are required in which frame? What is supported and not supported? Thank you!

Re: Synergy SAS connection across frames
There are no physical connectors nor any ability to cross frames with the Synergy SAS modules. Each frame that contains a D3940 can only communicate with the local SAS modules and servers. Any server that requires D3940 SAS access requires local SAS modules and local D3940 storage.

Thank you for the quick response, Dan!
Now this also applies to HPE Synergy Virtual Connect SE 32Gb FC Module correct?

Re: Synergy SAS connection across frames
Hello,
The HPE Synergy Virtual Connect SE 32Gb FC Modules provide connectivity to network storage (FC/FCoE, iSCSI, etc.) and do not provide any direct SAS connectivity. The SAS ICM's provide connectivity for servers within the same frame. A pair of 100 Gb VC SE modules can be used by up to 5 frames through the use of Interconnect Link Modules. A good document that provides some details regarding this is the HPE Synergy Configuration and Compatibility Guide:
