Cisco ASA - incoming SNMP request (on interface X) exceeds data buffer size

Hi all,

I understand this i quite a normal message on the ASA.

What is the seting in iMC or the registry to lower the nummer of OIDs in a GET request?

HP iMC v7

Cisco ASA v9.1

Thanx Jaap

I don't know of any way to change the number of requested objects. I haven't seen that option on any of the NMSes I've worked with.

The only thing I could suggest is using SNMPv1, not v2. Then it won't do bulk requests.

Hi Lindsey,

Thanks for your reply.

Not that it helps me with IMC7.0, but it seems that some monitoring tools do, e.g

MOM3.0 with registry setting key name: MaxOidsPerRequest default: 50

PRTG - Request mode > (do not) bundle SNMP requests

and this https://communities.ca.com/nl/web/ca-ehealth-and-ca-spectrum-global-user-community/message-board/-/message_boards/view_message/98840075

says something about message size to be 512bytes max for Cisco ASA
