Creating an IMC NTA application monitor for customer apps

I work for a company that has a lot of applications developed in-house and I'd like to be able to use NTA application monitoring for them.  While NTA has over a thousand per-defined applications, I don't see where I can create my own application monitors.  At this point I don't need to create anything fancy; just being able to monitor based on TCP or UDP ports should do.

Is there any documentation on how to do this?  Is it even possible?  Thanks.
