IMC - LiveUpdate down?

The LiveUpdate is not working for me from 3 weeks ago. When I click on "Get Update List", I get "No update items found."

This is using Device software update and even in the IMC software update.

Somebody knows?

We're having the same problem. I contacted HPE support, and they say that this is a known problem currently being investigated by L3 technicians.

searching on imc turns up some imc skus branded as Aruba as well as HPE, so looks like imc will get more aruba support...one day.

Also patch came out for Wireless Service Manager to 7.3 (E0505P02) since I noticed the liveupdate has been down

I am curious to see if this will happen. What I have been told by HPE/Aruba the last couple of years at conferences is that IMC will focus on data centre and heterogenous environments, whereas Aruba equipment (wired and wireless) will be managed by Airwave. Maybe the launch of the new 8400 switch has changed their plans?

Hello, this comes from HPE customer support. It is not the solution, it is a workarounf.

As a temporary workaround, you can enable HTTP access instead. To make this work, change the liveupdate properties file and it will use the HTTP URL.
1) Make a copy of c:\program files\imc\client\conf\liveupdate\liveupdate.properties
2) Edit the line for liveupdate; (remove the ‘s’) liveupdate.url =

http://h10145.www1.hpe.com/web/services/pcm3/PcmWebSvc.asmx
3) Then restart IMC
4) Reverse the process when https access is resolved.

The reason is a ssl misconfiguration on the liveupdate server https://h10145.www1.hpe.com

The server certificate is singed by an intermediate CA: Symantec Class 3 Secure Server SHA256 SSL CA, but the intermediate certificate is not delivered by the server.

So the iMCs java processes can't verify the certificate chain and close the connection without querying for updates.

If youe prefer, or need, to use https, you can add the missing Intermediate CA Certificate to the java keystore wich comes with the IMC.

You can get the Intermediate CA Certificate at https://knowledge.symantec.com/support/ssl-certificates-support/index?page=content&actp=CROSSLINK&id=INFO2055

- Just copy the content of the grey box into an file on your IMC, for example to /tmp/Symantec_Class_3_Secure_Server_SHA256_SSL_CA.pem

Then use the java keytool to add the certificate to the IMCs java keystores:

/opt/iMC/common/jre/bin/keytool -keystore /opt/iMC/common/jre/lib/security/cacerts -importcert -alias SymantecClass3SecureServerSHA256SSLCA -file /tmp/Symantec_Class_3_Secure_Server_SHA256_SSL_CA.pem

/opt/iMC/deploy/jdk/jre/bin/keytool -keystore /opt/iMC/deploy/jdk/jre/lib/security/cacerts -importcert -alias SymantecClass3SecureServerSHA256SSLCA -file /tmp/Symantec_Class_3_Secure_Server_SHA256_SSL_CA.pem

The requested keystore password for adding the cert is the default: "changeit"

Pathes are from the linux version, but on windows it should work similar.

Im not sure if it is neccessary to add the cert to both keystores.

After that, liveupdate is woking with the default https adress.

But remember: You have to repeat this, after you update your IMC software, because the keystores will be overwritten.

Is anyone else having problems with IMC LiveUpdate today? I get the list of available software versions, but when I try to download any of them I get the following result:

Failed to connect to proxy or target host.

We are using http for LiveUpdate by the way.

Just got off the phone with HPE support.  They are aware of LiveUpdate being down.  Not sure of an ETA.  When they give me an article ID, I'll share it.

There is an IMC platform patch coming at the beginning of March, fixing the last of the issues with LiveUpdate. I know it has been a long and frustrating process, with multiple issues, one after the other. We're almost there...

Yes, it should. LiveUpdate and Product registration use different methods but the same webservice server.  I will post here when the new patch is available.
