Many problems with update / migration from IMC 7.3_E0605 on Server 2008 R2 to Server 2016 Datacenter

Hello experts,

I have been desperate for a few days to simply migrate IMC 7.3_E0605 from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2016 Datacenter. The goal should be to go to version 7.3_E0705 at the end but I don't get that far.

When I start the installer on Server 2016, I get a message that the .NET Framework 4.6 is not installed. There is the following document, unfortunately only written for 2012:

I have version 461814 under regedit. When I try to install .NET Framework version 4.6, 4.6.2, 4.7, I get a message that newer versions are already installed by the framework installer.

I need this version, because otherwise I cannot migrate from the old 2008 server, because newer versions are not possible on the 2008 according to the guide.

Hello there,

So far I see you are on .NET 4.7.2  (461814).The problem is with the iMC installer on version E0605 , which does not recognize the .NET if it is a newer version than .net 4.6.x.This issues is fixed  in E0703 and above.

What you could do in order to be able to install E0605 version on your new server  and migrate is to uninstall .net 4.7.2 and install .net 4.6..x The easiest way is to remove the Microsoft KB.

Once .net 4.7.2 is removed install the .net 4.6.x , Installers are available on Microsoft page.

Once you get  iMC software installed ,  it is not a problem to install the .net version later than 4.6.2.
