A6828A VPD Issue

Hello,

I have installed this card on a rx2600 server. I used VPD utility EFIHPVPD-1.00.03 to view the the VPD information. But it gives following warning. How can I get rid of it?
Any idea?

This could be a firmware / driver related problem.

The IPF offline diags CD from http://software.hp.com has the current firmware.

I used the IPF0812 CD and used the drivers on it. I will use IPF0903 to see if it helps.

The last entry should be for EFI driver version. I realised that even I flashed the card with latest EFI driver, the hex view still shows the wrong version of the EFI driver for some reason.

Well, it appears you have verified the EFI driver version with the flash utility. I think you verified the output of "Image Version Currently Loaded".

I wonder if efihpvpd can show expected formatted view of VPD after the firmware update.

I can verifify VPD of my card with efihpvpd correctly. The HEX view also has the correct EFI dribver version. So it should not be tool issue.

You also can verify the EFI driver version with the EFI command, drivers. Here is an example for A6829A (Dual U160).

Your card may have some hardware problem if you actually have been able to flash the latest firmware with no error.

You indicate your EFI driver is 1.04.01.00 after updating the firmware. It means your update of the EFI driver to 1.04.02.00 may failed. I updated my card and its output is following.

(V1) EFI Driver Version.............. PCI-EFI-1.04.02.00

The firmware file for the update should be lsiscsi.rom.

I could able to flash with latest one PCI-EFI-1.04.02.00 without any error and "drivers" shows this version.

The problem with EFIHPVPD still exists.

Can you copy your new Hex output for my reference? Also I would like to see your new formatted output as well. If you can get the EFI command "drivers" output, I would like to see its output too.

Sorry for the late response. It apperas you may have some corrupted NVRAM data area that your update cannot overwrite. You may need to replace the card if you want to resolve it. Or if the card itself is running without any other problem, you can ignore it.
