Auto Lan install on Itanium hpux
Hi
In PA-RISC hpux we only need to use
boot lan.xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx install
to issue a net install,
but seems in Itanium have to add client MAC to /etc/bootpab in ignite server.
Is there also a automatic way to avoid attional manual works?
Thanks!

Re: Auto Lan install on Itanium hpux
My understanding is these are the requirments:
1) Machine must be on same subnet.
2) The image you are planning to push golden or otherwise must be created on an Itanium server. You can't build a golden image this OS release(11.11) on a PA-RISC machine and push it to Itanium hardware. I'm told the next major OS release will provide that functionality.
As far as the client mac goes, by making the client part of the same subnet and network, different host, you should be okay without manual intervention.
What I'm not perfectly clear on is if there are any special provisions needed to boot a Itanium client off an Ignite server that is PA-RISC. Since the architecture is different, I would think there are issues there.

Re: Auto Lan install on Itanium hpux
Try version 4.2. HP states that full supports IPF client since 4.1. However, don't know if you still need to update /etc/bootptab or not.
