Re: IA servers where I can install Win2k3 IA64 Data Center Ed.
have a look at the product pages
http://h20341.www2.hp.com/integrity/cache/332341-0-0-0-121.html
But it looks like you need one of the big boxes
http://h20341.www2.hp.com/integrity/cache/340168-0-0-0-121.html (midrange)
http://h20341.www2.hp.com/integrity/cache/342254-0-0-0-121.html (highend)
For the entry class servers only the Enterprise Edition is mentioned.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: IA servers where I can install Win2k3 IA64 Data Center Ed.
Can I install this OS on rx4640? I know that they have not mentioned whether this OS can be installed in this box or not. But tell me whether I can or can't. I am not interested whether its supported or not.

Re: IA servers where I can install Win2k3 IA64 Data Center Ed.
But MS says about it
Recommended Minimum RAM: 1 GB
Maximum RAM: 1 TB
Multiprocessor Support: Up to 64 per partition (minimum 8-way capable server required)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/64bit/ipf/datacenter.mspx
Your server can have up to 8 CPU cores, but I know only 1 system with the capability 1 TB RAM and >=64 cores at this time - so I guess it will run with less memory too. Since it is not supported on your machine, you may try to install or wait for another users comment.
Good luck!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Solutionyes you can install w2k3 DC edition on a RX4640 using the DVD reinstall media from HP. It will work fine, it even works on smaller systems but given the extra cost for the DC license it is not commerically justifiable to do, but that was not of your concern as you mentioned.
Any background info as to why you want to have this OS release on the RX4640 ?
