SolutionThis can be found here:
http://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=A9890A
Locate the smartarray device file with ioscan, e.g.
/dev/ciss0
Use saconfig /dev/ciss0
to view the current config.
Use saconfig without parameters for all options (or man saconfig).
Example for extending the logical drive to 1 more disk:
# saconfig /dev/ciss3 -E 1 -p 1:3
Logical drive 1 expanded from 3 to 4 physical drives
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: re : smart array 6402 help
Your command was probably wrong.
Because I don't know what command you run, I don't know what was wrong.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: re : smart array 6402 help
The situation is different:
---------- PHYSICAL DRIVES ----------
Location Ch ID Size Status
External 1 0 72.8 GB OK
External 1 1 72.8 GB OK
External 1 2 72.8 GB OK
External 1 3 72.8 GB UNASSIGNED
External 1 4 72.8 GB UNASSIGNED
External 1 5 72.8 GB UNASSIGNED
---------- LOGICAL DRIVE 0 ----------
Device File = c6t0d0
RAID Level = 5
Size = 138920 MB
Stripe Size = 16 KB
Status = OK
3 disks are in use, 3 disks are new.
Your command looks correct to me, maybe you had "invisible and bad" characters in that line because of the use of DEL or BACKSPACE.
Try again.
You may also try to use the offline tool (ORCA) - this is the BIOS of that card.
During boot, press ESC + 8 while the system is showing "press F8 to configure ...".
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

In this program it is impossible(to add a disk to an existing logical disk). There options are accessible only: Create (only new logical drive... no option for edit or add disk,View and Delete)

You have solved this problem ?

Re: re : smart array 6402 help
Your fw version is 2.78, I don't know the tool version.
Anyway, IMHO this is related to the fw/tool version combo.
But this is a mystery to me.
The latest version you can get from the web pages of BSC is 2.68, but the offline diag CD contains 2.78.
Even the latest software depot contains a firmware file ("cyborg.bin") and I believe it will update the firmware during installation.
If I search the windows driver pages on the hp web site they are already at 2.80 (but the file format is not compatible.
Anyway, I would open a call and ask hp support for a solution.
I would be glad to hear some results ...
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: re : smart array 6402 help
Just like to update you on the issue,
1) Please check the drivers to the latest
For HPUX 11.23 -->B.11.23.0712
we could see that if the driver is one version older(B.11.23.0606) the command with "-E" option to extend would not work in.
2)The latest firmware for the card is 2.68 for unix and 2.80 for windows
hope teh card verwsion is latest (verified from attachment)
3) Please check for the disk drivers for the latest firmwares.
If we match the above ,it should work in..
I have tried/worked and got the results
