Can't get a PA system to work off a FXS port
I'm trying to get a paging system connected to my VCX, it requires a FXS port to work, I figured out a need a line isolator for this particular PA system, however when ever I connect the PA system to the FXS port the port immediately goes off hook and the PA system plays out dial tone. This is only a low end PA which doesn't have a analog port on it, but I've been told by using a line isolator I can hook in via the PA's AUX port.
Has anyone done this before?
Cheers, Soxcamp

Re: Can't get a PA system to work off a FXS port
G'day soxcamp, you need to do two things to make this work, the first is turn on call cut through, this will allow a call to drop onto the active curcuit, the second is to make sure that call waiting is turned on, otherwise the PA call will not be able to drop onto the active paging curcuit.
To turn on call cut through, log onto your gateway, select protocol management, advanced parameters, general parameters, you'll see call cut through down the bottom set this to enable then click submet, click advanced parameters again, then supplementry services, and enable call waiting, agian click submit, don't forget to burn the new config to the box.
NOTE: these settings are applied across the box, so it would be an idea to use a 2 port fxs for this, otherwise you may have issues with calls on other fxs ports.
You can also check out the gateway configuration guide it talks briefly about paging, link is the vcx gateway configuration thread.
cheers
