Changing from Layer 2 to Layer 3 routing for a JD009A
I have two JD009A E4800-24SFP switches. I would like to enable layer 3 routing on this 3com switched and haven't used a 3com switch before. I know with Cisco and HP switches, you can use the "ip routing" command, but I have no idea with a 3com switch. I read the manuals and really didn't answer my question. For the second 3com switch I would like to use it as a layer 2 switch.
Also, the current config is a firewall -- router (rtr on a stick) -- 3com switch--second 3com switch (via trunk). I ping another ethernet switch at a different building and get 3ms-48ms ping times....which doesn't seem normal. I don't see too many dropped packets on the JD009A. Though on another network I have a E5412zl switch and connected about 1.5 miles away I get <1ms ping times.

Re: Changing from Layer 2 to Layer 3 routing for a JD009A
It should be enabled by default, try to connect 2 clients to 2 different VLANs and set their gateway IP to the IPs configured in the 4800 vlan interfaces and see if you can ping between them
