Connect a HPE 5130 to network using IP address on managment VLAN
Hello,
Just purchased an HPE 5130 to connect up new building to our existing network.
Our other switches switches all have IP addresses on the management vlan 1128
configured the 5130 like this:
vlan 1128
name management
ip-subnet-vlan 1128 ip 172.26.128.90 255.255.255.0
ip route-static 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 172.26.128.1
int g1/0/17
port link-type hybrid
tagged vlan 1, 1128
pvid 1
Connecting Switch (Aruba 2530 connected via g1/0/17 on the 5130)
port 8 untagged vlan 1
tagged with vlan 1128
port G1/0/17 shows as up and shows that it has a neighbor but niether switch can ping the other and 5130 cannot ping the default gateway. haven't configured a 5130 before so am just guessing how the config should go !
Thanks !!!

Re: Connect a HPE 5130 to network using IP address on managment VLAN
Hi Richard,
HPE recommends not use Management VLAN for forwarding data traffic
Refer Pg 138 <<IP subnet-based VLAN configuration example >>
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c04901861
Bring up the VLAN interface, by exectuing following command
<<undo shutdown>>
By default, a VLAN interface is up. The VLAN interface is up if one or more ports in the VLAN is up, and goes down if all ports in the VLAN go down.
A VLAN interface shut down with the shutdown command,
however, will be in the DOWN (Administratively) state until you bring it up, regardless of how the state of the ports in the VLAN changes
I am a HPE Employee
