Fixed IP address from each port on HP2530-24G (J9776A) Switch?
Hi Guys
Thanks any help you give me.
In my wotkplace we need to run a script on incoming computers that captures their serial numbers and other system info. This script depends heavily on each machine connected to the switch having a specific, fixed IP address.
Is it possible for HP2530-24G (J9776A) Switch to only give a certain, pre-determined IP address on each of it's particular ports? For example, port 1 gives out 192.168.1.10, port 2 gives 192.168.1.20 etc. When another machine hooks up to port 1, it will receive the IP address 192.168.1.10 (just to make the example clear).
I know that switches don't usually care abiut IP addresses (at the Layer 2 level, anyway). No amount of Googling will tell me clearly if this device has such Layer-3 type capabilty!!
Again, I am glad of any support given.
William
