I see several setups on OSPF and some use ospf redistributed connected over VLAN passive. Some use VLAN passive over redistributed connected. I couldn't find any recommendations from HP, Cisco's forums say to use VLAN passive interfaces. What is your recommendation?

SolutionI have not seen official recommendation, but personally prefer the silent/passive concept. These routes will still show as ospf internal routes, as opposed to type5 external routes when using redistribute connected.
So you do not see any difference between your routes and real external routes.
Other advantage is that in case of route conflicts (suppose you would learn a 10.1.10.0/24 route via an external source, and 10.1.10.0/24 is also an internal subnet), an OSPF internal route (t1/2/3) will always win from an external type5.
Hope this helps,
Best regards,Peter.

Re: HP Procurve OSPF - Redistribute Connected or VLAN Passive
Thank you Peter. That is what I was thinking. I'll stick with the passive command.
