Inter vlan routing in 3800
hello
I am totally new and novices for vlan. can anyone please advise if this can work and how do i achieve it. thanks!
i have 2x procurve 3800 48 port switch, connect via stacking module and stacking cable. that give me a total of 96 ports.
I like to create 3 vlans
vlan 1 - servers, gateway and printers
vlan 2 - pc and notebook (get dhcp from server in vlan 1)
vlan 3 - smartphone and tablet (get dhcp from server in vlan 1)
while the default vlan already assing to vlan 1, i created vlan 2 and vlan 3 as follows
vlan 1- 192.168.10.0/24, gateway 192.168.10.1 - my internet gateway
vlan 2 - 192.168.20.0 /24 , gateway 192.168.20.1 - vlan 2 gateway
vlan 3 - 192.168.30.0/24, gateway 192.168.20.1 - vlan 3 gateway
my problems...
1. In vlan 2 and 3, unable to get ip from dhcp server in vlan 1
2. so i set static ip for some PC...eg 192.168.20.20/24, gateway 192.168.20.1, i can ping to vlan 1 host, but i can access internet. i had verify servers in vlan 1, they have not problem access internet, just that the gateway is 192.168.10.1. I must have missing something.
3. do i need a "interface vlan" (eg vlan 4) to do the routing? if so, how to?

Hello
ip you wantvlan 2 and 3,to get ip from dhcp server in vlan 1, go inside the vlan 2 and 3 and put this command:
ip helper-address 192.168.10.xxx (dhcp server Ip)

Also configure the router to transfer dhcp to vlan 2 and 3
