3CRWDR101A-75 - connects but can't browse web
Hi all,
I have just bought a 3com 3CRWDR101A-75 to replace the non-wireless router provided by my ISP.
The router connects to the ISP but I cannot browse any sites. The symptoms are
- Browser connects to sites but fails to download any data.
- Email client (Thunderbird) connects to the email provider but then fails to download new messages.
- Audio streaming (internet radio) works fine.
- Can connect to and use a VPN.
- Symptoms are identical in both Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux.
- No problems with the old router.
I have updated the router's firmware to v1.10.00.A, to no effect.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

Re: 3CRWDR101A-75 - connects but can't browse web
I've now discovered that after disabling the router's firewall, I am able to browse the web. I had thought that I had tried this before, but I suppose I must have set the firewall level to Low.
But obviously I'd rather not use a router without a firewall. My ISP are currently checking, but I fear that I might be stuck with a product I can't use - who will take responsibility when both the router and the internet connection work fine, but just not together?
Advice anyone?
Thanks,
Chris

Try reducing the MTU size of your Connection. It should be in your internet Settings.
I agree, no good being without a firewall.
Hope this helps
