Hi, planning on expanding MSA storage. We have left 4 free slots in the storage and bought some extra disks for it. Can i just add disks to storage while its in online and performing high IO? Or should i shutdown it?
Also in that regard disks and storage should be hot plug compactable? Or only need for storage being hot plug compactable?
UPDATE: so disks model are not same, so firmware is a little different and lastest on new drives. So the question is this everything normal? MSA show good status of all disks.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Betreff: Adding new disks to MSA 2060
Hi,
the Disks are Hot-Plug, you can add the new Disks (and also Disk Shelf) while the System is running.
Please wait 1 min, between every Disk, so that the Storage can relax.
After adding the Disks you can choose what Do Do with them.
There are some possibilities, regarding if you have DP+ or not or if you have different Disk Pools ...

SolutionIt's no problem to have different FW on the Drives.
It's also no Problem to have different Manufacture of the Drives, which results in different Firmware.
But if the new Disk has the older Firmware, I would Update them anyway.
Do not Downgard the Firmware!
