Disable MSA2060 Update Server

We have a standalone MSA2060 running the latest firmware. It is not connected to the internet.  How would I disable the Update Server completely. The problem is I am getting alerts periodically claiming it cannot resolve the dns information if i leave the update server field with defaults.

If i do a set update-server " " , then it alerts it cannot find the URL. I just want to completely disable update service and its associated alerts. Thanks

Re: Disable MSA2060 Update Server

Hi @Mahesh94 ,

Update server task schedule is an internal schedule and cannot be stopped permanently.

You may issue the below command to stop the schedule temporarily.

delete schedule UpdateServer

However, the schedule will restart automatically after an MC or SC restart.

Also the behavior is not consistent. On some systems this alert about Update Server is thrown on other systems its not. Both the systems (DAS) run the same firmware version and its the same model and everything.

@Mahesh94
The best way to workaround your issue would be to create a local manifest file for the systems to validate against.
1. get the manifest file from HPE:  https://www.hpe.com/support/MSAmanifest
2. copy the file to a local HTTP or HTTPS server
3. Set the Update Server URL to point to the local HTTP(S) source

The manifest file is a 'simple' JSON file that the system compares against the current components in the system. If a component is found with a known version of firmware and an updated version of firmware is available the system will report the downlevel firmware and notify.
If you put a reminder to go and grab the manifest file every month (or 6 months) and update your local source you will have the same experience as connected to the internet and always know about new versions.
The best part of the manifest is that it has the direct links to the firmware packages needed.  No need to try to navigate the HPE support site or even do a lookup on the MSA Firmware helper site:  https://www.hpe.com/storage/MSAFirmware
