EVA 5000 and Brocade Silkworm 2800

Hello:
Here we want to connect some servers (mostly Windows 2000 and HP-UX 11.11) to an EVA storage using a Brocade 2800 FC switch.

When I connect the host ports (1 on each controller) of the HSV100 controllers to the switch, I get a blinking yellow triangle in the Brocade Switch.

I have not the FC switch documentation, and I cannot guess what's happening there.

Does anybody had the same problem when configuring this brand of switches?

Thanks in advance

Ignacio

A fast blinking amber light on a switch port indicates some failure. I have never seen such a problem before, sorry.

Please log in to the switch (default username/password is "admin"/"password"), capture the output of the following commands and make them available as a .TXT attachment. Do not simply copy&paste into the message box, please.

> switchShow
> version
> portErrShow
> portShow #
where '#' is the number of the port with the error indicator.

Re: EVA 5000 and Brocade Silkworm 2800

Uwe:
Unfortunately this switch is not connected to the LAN, it was installed by the year 2000/2001 and wasn't ever "touched" again.

The front panel display is not working, it├В┬┤s "blind", and we have not the manuals or docs for this hardware.

I spent an hour this morning trying to connect from a laptop to the administrative ethernet port with no success (couldn't gather the mac address).

Well... this is a bit "dark", I'll appreciate very much if someone can point where to find the manuals for that switches.

Thanks a lot!

Re: EVA 5000 and Brocade Silkworm 2800

Oops, understood. The Brocade 2800 was sold as the Compaq SANswitch 16.

The default IP address is 10.77.77.77 and can be changed from the OPC. It _should_ light up when you press one of the navigation buttons. See the Installation and Hardware Guide. Good luck!

Excellent answer!!
Thank you very much, I'll try that docs before other question.
