How to HP P2000 Storage Controller exchange?
Hello
I am using HP 2000 Storage.
This Storage is being used as Virtual Storage.
It currently appears to be a controller part failure.
I don't know exactly how to proceed with the work.
Current situation
1. Controller A is in the Unknown state in Storage being used.
2. Presumably in service only with Controller B.
Current Storage Part Firmware Information
ъ╡Рь▓┤эХШыадыКФ Storage Controller ьаХы│┤
I don't know exactly the order of work I want to replace the part.
According to the information I found, the existing Storage Controller firmware should not be lower than the Storage Controller that I want to replace.
Do I need to update the firmware of the existing Storage Controller B as a pre-replacement operation?
If I have to proceed, how should I proceed with the update?
Also, what is the order for you to power down and boot up the entire Storage?
After the above work, how should I proceed with the order of work when I proceed with the controller replacement work?
Please let me know if you need any additional information, I will check and post the information.

Re: How to HP P2000 Storage Controller exchange?
Hi,
I see 2 screenshots in the post.
One of the screenshots report controller A as down with firmware version TS251P006.
The second screenshot report both the controllers as up with the latest firmware TS252P005 installed.
Basic controller down troubleshooting would be:
1. Try to restart the storage controller which is down by issuing the below command from putty SSH session to management IP of working controller:
restart sc a
2. If controller still fails to come up, you could remove the controller A from its slot physically by 1-2 inches and reseat it.
3. If the storage controller A still fails to come up, it would require replacement.
Controller replacement instructions:

As the firmware version of controller is not quite old, you could enable partner firmware update and replace the storage controller A.
This will ensure that the firmware of controller B and new controller A gets synched automatically.
Partner firmware update synch might take around 30-45 minutes.
Controller replacement is an online activity and should be performed with the array powered on.
Scheduling a downtime for host servers accessing MSA volumes would be a good idea during controller replacement as the storage device is quite old.
Please note that P2000 G3 is an end of support life device and the chances of getting spare controller is quite less.

Re: How to HP P2000 Storage Controller exchange?
I think your answer will be of great help to me.
I would like to ask you about firmware synchronization.
If Controller A needs to be replaced, I'm inquiring under the guise that it needs to be replaced.
Controller B has a lower firmware version than the replaceable spare part.
Controller B has all the storage configuration information.
The spare part you want to replace (high firmware version) is used equipment.
So, with PFU functionality, is there no risk that Controller A will become the main and destroy existing storage configuration information?

Re: How to HP P2000 Storage Controller exchange?
Hi,
All the configuration information is available in hard drives.
Even if we replace both the controllers together the RAID configuration information will be taken from the hard drives. I came across below message in controller replacement guide:
For controller replacement on an MSA P2000 array, Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends disabling this feature to avoid unintentionally changing the firmware on the controller not being replaced.
Please disable PFU and replace the controller A.
You could upgrade the firmware of controller B manually using fw update exe file once controller A has initialized and is online.
