How to integrate the the MSA volumes in IBM-AIX system multipathing (Native)
1. We have provisioned a MSA storage volume to the IBM-AIX for booting from SAN and get the installation done successfylly.
2. Another volumne has been created and allocated to the installed OS for creating and mounting filesystem; and got the volume mounted succesfully.
3. The allocated disk properties is showing all the information of MSA storage i.e. array model and S/N, device ID/WWN etc.
4. But the allocated LUNs are not geting integrated to the AIX MPIO (Native multipathing software) . As each disk is mapped to the HBA (single port) through both the controller, we are getting two diferent disk number instead of single pseudo device name.
Note: OS Version - AIX 7..6 & MSA Model - 2040
I do request to assist if there is anything to change or configure or install in the AIX OS for that perticular MSA array so that we can use those disks in live using MPIO.

Re: How to integrate the the MSA volumes in IBM-AIX system multipathing (Native)
Hello @Ashraf1,
Please try this.
First, we need to rescan or reboot the IBM-AIX server side, once this is done check the lun availability.
If this does not work, you might need to check for port errors and SFP status at the switch level.
Also, you need to verify the mappings to the server from the storage.
Please revert back if you have any queries on this.
Hope this helps!
Regards,
Venkat

Re: How to manage the the MSA volumes in IBM-AIX system MPIO (Native Multipathing)
Thanks a lot Venkat for the reply....
I have already follow the steps you mentioned and got the volume visible to the OS with no errors. But the pain point is that to get the path failover of the mapped volume I must have to manage the disks through the multipathing software and this volume is not getting managed through MPIO.
So, I need help to get any technical procedure to manage the MSA volumes from the AIX MPIO.

Re: How to manage the the MSA volumes in IBM-AIX system MPIO (Native Multipathing)
Hi Ashraf,
There are no drivers or configuration guidelines when MSA 2040 is used along with IBM AIX.
Please note that IBM AIX is not listed as a tested/supported operating system with MSA 2040 in HPE SPOCK web page.
Please get in touch with operating system support team to check for any configuration options.
