HP MSA2312i (2000i G2 MSA) controller revival?

Hello,

I have an old MSA2312i which I want to use for my home lab, but only one controller is working.

We had a controller failure a few years ago, so we got a refurbished controller, only this controller had a newer firmware version and partner firmware update was enabled which I did not know.

So when placing the refurb controller it did a firmware update of the controller which was already in the MSA, without me knowing it was doing this I turned off the MSA which resulted in a somewhat bricked controller.

Does anyone know if it is possible to revive this controller?

@Thomas11 Hope you are doing well,  what is the firmware version on the controllers now?
you could try the following basic troubleshooting steps. 

General Troubleshooting steps

Reseat the controller
If not done already, you can Try reseating the controller. 
Pull out the controller partially, wait for 30sec and reseat it. 

Power cycle the array
you can also try power cycling the unit. 
power down the unit, remove all the cables, wait for some time, and plug the cables back and power on the unit.

Hi Thomas,

If the original controller does not come up even after removing and reseating it and a power cycle of entire MSA, the controller needs to be replaced.

You could try a reflash of the original controller , if  the original controller comes back up and if you have the firmware update file.

Note: You might need to log a support case and get in touch with support engineer to check for options to download firmware for the unit.
