HP P2000. Creating a new LUN for use with 3 vmware vsphere 5.1 hosts. Need advise please
Hello, I have an exising HP P2000 G3 dual controller ISCI san and have a question on proper LUN allocation to multiple vmware hosts. When I create a new volume and assign a mapping with a new LUN number it automatically creates the volume and adds all my hosts to it all using the same LUN number. So my three vmware hosts all get assigned the same LUN number. The storage appears fine on each host and a vmfs-5 format is good.
Is this standard procedure for the vmware hosts that support MPIO datastores? Or is it better to create explict mappings to the storage from each host with a different LUN number?
Thank you for any info. Doug
