HPE MSA 2050 - FC Port speed only 4gb/s
Hello Everyone,
We have an HPE MSA 2050 with two controllers, connected two host servers DL380 Gen10, at FC speed 16gb/s. We have met the issue with FC port B2 on controller B, it's speed only 4gb/s while three remain (A1, A2, B1) always at 16gb/s. We have tried swap MSA SFP transceiver to either port B3, B4; replaced FC cable; also restarted controller B, however, the issue still persistant.
Does anyone know this issue ?
Thanks in advance.

@HuyTran_85
It sounds like you did troubleshooting on the MSA array port side but did you check the HBA side?
The MSA and HBA can be configured to only connect at a specific port speed.
On the MSA you can use the CLI to show the configuration of the ports:
CLI> show ports
It will show 'Speed (A)' == Speed actual and will also show 'Speed (C)' == Speed Configured. Typically the configured speed will be AUTO.
If the configured speed is 4Gb then that is what the connection will be. You can change the port configured speed with the CLI command:
CLI> set host-parameters speed auto controller b port 2
You can also show the MSA SFP capabilities by running the CLI command:
CLI> show ports detail
The output will show you both the Part Number and the supported speeds
To troubleshoot the HBA:
First take a cable which is connecting at 16Gb and plug that into the B2 port, don't change the HBA/Switch connection side of the cable. If the B2 port connects at 16Gb then the problem is not on the MSA side.
Then it's going to be getting the HBA software and reading how to confirm the HBA port speed.

Re: HPE MSA 2050 - FC Port speed only 4gb/s
Hello @JonPaul ,
Firstly thanks for your advisory. I did troubleshoot HBA as you mentioned, howerver, B2 port still at 4gb/s. Additional, I also tried take this FC cable which connected HBA at 16Gb/s, then plug into B3 and B4 port on MSA, however, they still at 4gb/s.
Should I process reseat controller B then upgrade MSA firmware ?
Thanks in advance.

Re: HPE MSA 2050 - FC Port speed only 4gb/s
@HuyTran_85
I think that test is indicating that the MSA is not the problem. That same cable (Connected to the same HBA port??) connected to 3 different MSA ports is only able to connect at 4Gb. The only thing that isn't shown in your troublshooting is if those ports will link at 16Gb when connected to another HBA/Switch port. or did I misunderstand and that cable, connected to the same HBA/Switch port, links at 16Gb on port 3 and 4?
