HPE MSA2050 Stripe Size 512kb;

Hi ALL,

I recently had a performance problem with a 1.8TB SAS disk pool which was escalated at HPE. HPE, in accordance with best practices, asks us to change the RAID and blocking to Stripe size of 512kb. My question is, in which configuration field is there this option for a stripe size of 512kb? During the creation of a disk group, there is no such thing!

However, I saw this option when modifying an already created volume, would that be it?

Yes, correct. You can only modify the stripe value when modifying the volume.

I'm not sure I understand what you are seeing and what parameter you are attempting to set/configure on the volume.  Can you show some CLI output?

I think the support was suggesting that the Chunk-Size of the disk-group be set as 512kb but this is not a configurable setting with Virtual Storage.  If your disk-group conforms to "Power of 2" then the chunk-size will be 512kb,  if it does not conform to "Po2" the chunk-size will be 64kb.  There is some information on this and why in the Best Practices Guides and the Virtual Storage Technical Reference Guides.
