iSCSI port showing down on MSA as well as on network switch

HI,

I am installing MSA2060 iSCSI lff storage and configured iSCSI ports with IP details on 4 ports of MSA. Now when I connect MSA on iSCSI sfp+ ports on network switch Aruba 5402 ports are showing down. I also tried with enabling ports from switch but it is still down. Pleae help me to sort out this issue.

Re: iSCSI port showing down on MSA as well as on network switch

  • How are you connecting the MSA to the switch? DAC cables, transceivers and fiber cables, something else?
  • What are the length of the cables? From memory I've had an issue before where some switches didn't like 7M DAC cables (but are fine with 3m or 5m)
  • Are the ports on the switch SFP or SFP+

Re: iSCSI port showing down on MSA as well as on network switch

HI All,

1. I am connecting MSA with transceiver and fiber cable
2. Since we are using FC cables there is no issue with lengh
3. Ports on switch are SFP+

Re: iSCSI port showing down on MSA as well as on network switch

Are you trying to use iSCSI with a Fiber Channel switch?

Could you confirm the part number of the switch as I can't find anything for Aruba 5402,  There is an Aruba 5406 (e.g. J9821A) or QLogic SANbox 5602 FC Switch.

@nitnitin
What does the MSA report with the SFP(SFP+) hardware?  CLI>  show ports
Does the MSA report any degraded status?

@JonPaul MSA ports are SFP+ (HPE MSA 10Gb SR iSCSI SFP ) . On GUI ports are showing disconnected.
