Issue with MSA storage Volumes

Hi Team,

End user has configured the MSA 2060 as per below steps, but they are facing issue with the volumes that they have created and attached to the host server, the volumes appear twice in the host server, meaning each volume that they have assigned to the host appears twice.

Steps followed to configure the MSA,

"I have 24 disk total 2.4TB,

I have created RAID1 of two disk,

Created RAID6 of 10 Disks

Created another RAID6 of 10 disk,

2 Spare disks configured

Pool A,

Created 3 volumes

Pool B

Created 3 volumes

The host show 6 volumes that is initialized and working, it also showing same number of dummy volumes."

Kindly support to address the issue.

Regards,

@Brian8jbm

You need to install the multipathing software on your OS.
This is MPIO on Windows  or Device Mapper on Linux.  VMware has the multipath software typically running already although it would not hurt to check the settings.
MSA 2060 Best Practices has some detail about the Windows installation:  https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/a00105260enw
As a side note, your configuration may not be performing as you expect.  The Disk-Groups go into a Pool and the Volumes are carved out of the Pool.  Since you have 3 disk-groups there are 2 disk-groups in one Pool and 1 in the other (or 3 in a single Pool).  If your RAID 1 and RAID 10 disk-groups are in a single Pool then you will get 'lumpy' performance as the volume will use a page of storage from the RAID 1 then a page of Storage from the RAID 10.  These 2 disk-groups will have much different performance.  In your configuration of 24 drives the recommendation from HPE would be to make a single MSA-DP+ disk-group.
For information on RAID MSA-DP+  see the virtual storage technical guide:  https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/a00103247enw
