Lost Password For HP MSA 1040

Hi guys, I have a real old server stack that i need to migrate and move, but first i need to get into the MSA and check on the drives and storage but the last MF here set a different password when he got fired. Real classy to say the least, this is an old system with no support available and i really am at my wits end here. I just need to know how to reset this password locally without losing any data. The monitor account works just fine but manage or admin do not work and the few passwords I have here are no good. So how can i reset this password and just the password so we keep the data.

Unfortunately, depending on the firmware version the login from the USB serial using the 'restoreusers' does not work.

Thanks, so i have version GL225R003, would that command work with this version do you know?

It should,  FYI there is a newer firmware than what you are on.  You can see firmware versions here:  https://www.hpe.com/storage/MSAFirmware
Once you have access you can get a set  of logs and get a free review here:  https://www.hpe.com/storage/MSAHealthCheck

I would try the 'restoreusers' login first as it only resets the users.  If it does not work it does no damage.  'restoredefaults' login will wipe other parameters from the system.
note the user login after restoring users will be:   manage  password:  !manage

So I went and tried to reboot the MC and received a new error: Failed to restart the Management Controller on Controller A.

There was a failure to communicate with the remote MC ; MC restart failed. (2023-03-04 15:26:06) 

I also tried to connect via the USB Serial Cable and that won't connect to either controller via Putty. I have opened a case with HPE.
