MSA 2050 SAN One of the disk Groups is in quarantined Status - QTOF
I have MSA 2050
There are 2 disk Groups in the system and one pool for each. One of the disk Groups is in QTOF state and when trying to remove gives error -
Unable to remove the disk group.
The operation failed because the disk group is quarantined.
Tried to dequarantine it but that fails too
# dequarantine disk-group dgA01
Removing this disk group from quarantine will take the disk group offline and could result in irreversible data loss.
Do you want to continue? (y/n) y
Error: The requested operation cannot be completed because the target disk group is an internal component. - Disk group dgA01 was not dequarantined. (dgA01)

Tried to remove the pool but that fails too
# delete pool A
All data on pool A will be deleted.
Do you want to continue? (y/n) y

Can anyone let me know how to fix it?
Thanks very much!

Re: MSA 2050 SAN One of the disk Groups is in quarantined Status - QTOF
Hello,
Do you have a failed disk? There are a couple of things that could cause a disk group to be quarantined. Your best option is to contact HPE support.
Hope this helps

Re: MSA 2050 SAN One of the disk Groups is in quarantined Status - QTOF
Hi,
Pool or disk group deletion would be possible in normal scenarios only when they are in healthy state or critical/degraded state.
If all the disks which are part of QTOF disk group is reporting healthy status, you could try a graceful power cycle of entire array to check whether you could bring Pool and disk group to healthy or critical/degraded state.
1. Shut down both the storage controllers through SMU or SSH CLI session.
2. Allow 5-7 minutes for controllers to shut down and OK to remove LED to light up
3. Remove the power to controller enclosure 1 and all attached disk enclosures.
4. Provide power to all disk enclosures
5. Allow few minutes for disks to spin up
6. Provide power to controller enclosure 1.
7. Verify Pool and disk group status.
If the Pool and disk group still reports fault status, log an HPE support case to check for options to delete disk group / Pool or bring them online.

Re: MSA 2050 SAN One of the disk Groups is in quarantined Status - QTOF
In general, HP MSA storages are rubbish. I have lost all my data on the MSA 2040 storage for a week and no one at HP is helping. I even sent a ticket, but they did not respond
