What is unallocated space/capacity displayed on the home page? How it is calculated?

Unallocated space is space that is designated for a pool but has not yet been allocated by a volume within that pool.

For Example :

You have total 5TB of physical space available.
Let us assume , you configure a DiskGroup in PoolA with 4TB capacity.

You have created 1 volumes in the PoolA with 3TB

4TB-3TB = 1TB is the unallocated space.

In my case, the volumes were over-allocated/over-provisioned.

To add to your answer -

It is calculated as below:

Available Physical Space: 5TB

1 Disk Group (Virtual Pool): 4TB

2 Volumes of 3 TB each (total 6). Actual data on each volume 1.5 TB (total 3)

So the allocated is 3 TB, unallocated is 3 TB.

Virtual Pool: 4G. 

 The unallocated shows the virtual space/capacity also. It will be nice if the home page shows the actual unallocated space/capacity (1 TB) and virtual space/capacity (2G) to avoid confusions.

I want to provide my inputs for the example that you have mentioned as below,

Available Physical Space: 5TB      >> this can be total physical raw space of the system means space of both Pool A & B

1 Disk Group (Virtual Pool): 4TB  >> this space belongs to single Virtual Pool either Pool A or Pool B

2 Volumes of 3 TB each (total 6). Actual data on each volume 1.5 TB (total 3) >> These are Thin provisioned volumes which means both volumes can go up to 6TB each 3TB volume but right actual allocation total 3TB for both volumes

So the allocated is 3 TB, unallocated is 3 TB. >> This is wrong because allocation happens from Pool space or specifically from VDG space and you shouldn't consider volume here. As it's not clear how much is total Pool space so it's difficult to say how much space will be unallocated from Pool space.

Virtual Pool: 4G. >> Is this Pool total size ? you means 4TB?

Now if I consider Pool size is 4TB and there are two volumes created out of it where 3TB pool space got allocated till now. Then 1TB will be actual unallocated space left in this Pool.
