Basil,

Good find, you must have the eyes of a hawk to find that. ;-)

Re: MSA1500 - Active/Active Yet?

I've been following this thread for a LONG time now! It would be nice if someone from HP could comment on the issue. Any information is better than what we are getting now!!

Too late - I have saved a copy.
I also have a copy that claims FC_AL hub support for AlphaServers ...
.

Re: MSA1500 - Active/Active Yet?

I just got the info. that MSA1000/1500 A-A FW should be less than a week away!

>Too late - I have saved a copy.
I have seen it, but did not save it.
I think FC-AL will work with OpenVMS, but not to OpenVMS normal quality standards.

Re: MSA1500 - Active/Active Yet?

If I dig deep enough I am sure I can find that colorful PowerPoint file distributed by D|i|g|i|t|a|l in 1998, which promised FC_AL support for OpenVMS.

Re: MSA1500 - Active/Active Yet?

Lars,

Are you serious about Active/Active for the MSA1000 too ? If so, Christmas really has come early this year for me. ;)

My source should know.

I have seen this much later than 1998.
I heard that it was in field test for Alpha , but that the FC_AL protocol was not up to OpenVMS standard.
I'm just happy with A-A support, even if the cost of MSA switches is "not funny".

Re: MSA1500 - Active/Active Yet?

I do not know if older MSA1000 need to have some HW ECO's or if it is a FW only upgrade for all MSA1000's.

Re: MSA1500 - Active/Active Yet?

Lars,

Fair enough I will wait with baited breath for just a little longer...... I think I have been waiting since Nov 2003, so an extra week I can do with my eyes shut.

Thanks for the heads up,

Jeff

Jeff,

Once the 1500 A/A releases, the 1000 will follow in a few months.

Re: MSA1500 - Active/Active Yet?

Hello,

So does the MSA1000 have A/A capability yet?

Thanks,

Re: MSA1500 - Active/Active Yet?

From what I can glean, we are still A/P on the MSA1000, but A/A/A on the 1500 - do we need to upgrade to a 1500 and lose functionality (read switch/hub)

Or

Are HP going to release a MSA code set to turn on A/A/A?

Thanks in advance

Re: MSA1500 - Active/Active Yet?

At this year's Tech Forum, I attended a session on the MSA storage, and we were told that the tentative release for MSA1000 A/A firmware was January '07, if it didn't get pushed back. As of September, they were still on target for that date.

Re: MSA1500 - Active/Active Yet?

The MSA1500 can be manually (cfg the luns) for active - active, meaning using both controllers - with firmware 6.8.6. THis was out in December 2006
